2018-Stalling-Sale

You will have the opportunity to purchase Bedded Tie Stalls with Tack Stalls for the IJBBA Jr Steer & Heifer Show. If you receive the winning bid, you will need to designate which entries you will be stalling so we can pull them out of the county stalling. You will not be allowed to remove or alter the bedding supplied in Aisle B. You will be able to move tack into the barn Thursday morning from 7-9:00 AM, but cattle will not be allowed in the barn until Thursday night after cleaning and re-bedding of the aisles, cattle will be required to go to tie-outs.

STALLING

BEDDING: All cattle (sale cattle, live display, junior cattle) will be stalled on a common bedding that will be in place upon the exhibitors arrival at the show. NO additional bedding of any type will be allowed to be placed on top of this bedding. Juniors are not allowed to remove the bedding. The tie-out area will also be bedded.

Juniors will be stalled by county at the Iowa Beef Expo. Be sure to mark on the entry form what county you are from. Counties will be randomly assigned an appropriate number of stalls based on the number of entries received. Exhibitors from each county will be responsible for working out their own stalling arrangement within their assigned stalls. Due to the large number of cattle exhibited at the Expo Junior Show, exhibitors must be willing to accept the fact that space is limited and cooperation must take place in order to make things work for everyone. Again this year we strongly encourage you to set up your blocking chutes in the tie-out barn or hog barn and the IJBBA reserves the right to limit or remove blocking chutes from the cattle barn if they are excessive or blocking the aisles.
AGAIN THIS YEAR EACH COUNTY WILL ONLY BE ALLOWED TO SET UP ONE SET OF SIDE PANELS!

Junior cattle WILL NOT be allowed in the barn until the barn manager gives approval for you to move into your stalls. There are sales scheduled for Thursday and they do have PRIORITY!

Upon arrival on Thursday all junior exhibitors MUST enter at Gate 2 and receive your unloading permit and tie-outs at the check-in trailer in the North Lot. No one will be allowed to unload without barn manager permission, those not complying are subject to disqualification from the show. Cattle barn will not be open until 9:00 p.m.

Iowa Beef Expo Heifer Awards

The Iowa Beef Breeds Council has started a program in which each breed holding a sale at the Iowa Beef Expo will have the opportunity to present a $500.00 Iowa Beef Expo Heifer Award sponsored by the Iowa Beef Breeds Council to a junior exhibiter who purchased and exhibited a heifer from their breed sale. Each breed association has been asked to develop their own criteria for this award. Listed below are the two requirements of the Iowa Beef Breeds Council. Heifers will be ranked at the discretion of each breed association under the following conditions:

1. The heifer must have been purchased in an 2018 Iowa Beef Expo sanctioned sale and exhibited by a junior at the 2018 Iowa State Fair.

2. Only one heifer per breed sale (12 total) will be awarded. Therefore, high and low percentage cattle will be considered for one award.

Furthermore, cattle with multiple breed registrations may only be awarded by the breed association which sold those cattle at the 2018 Iowa Beef Expo.
